Buying CFLs

Andy Watts is one of eight community members promoting SmartSwap, our effort to encourage citizens to replace 50,000 incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescent lights (CFLs) by mid-April.

Of the 110 bulbs in his house on
Cedar Street , Andy has already swapped in 50 CFLs and 10 LED lamps to realize significant savings in his electric bill.
An "energy star" indeed!

Where to Buy CFLs:
Standard CFLs sell at Bibens Ace Hardware and Aubuchon Hardware for 99 cents each.
Bulbs also available at Price Chopper, Hannaford and Rite Aid
Prices vary by bulb type and retailer.
The web is a great source for hard-to-find bulbs.
This website is particularly helpful.

Why Buy CFLs:
CFLs last 6 to 10 times longer and
use 66% to 75% less energy
than incandescent bulbs.

After Buying CFLs:
Save their packaging for returns or recycling.
Save your receipt, in case of bulb failure.
